Opening of the IDS in Luxor, Luxor East Bank

On 18th of September, 2010 the International German School Luxor (former Europaschule Luxor) will be inaugurated in Luxor, Geziret El Awamia. The lessons will start on 19th of September, 2010.

 

Age of Children

The International German School Luxor will provide education for children starting at the age of 1.

• Kindergarten: for children aged 1 - 4
• Preschool: for children aged 4 - 6
• Elementary school: grades 1, 2, and 3
  

 

Languages

Classes will be held in German, English and Arabic. In preparation preschoolers and primary school children have occasion to take part in a free of charge German language crash course, from 13th of June to 16th of September, 2010, daily from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A German language course is also offered for parents.

 

Full Time School

Every school day (Sunday to Thursday) starts at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 16:00 p.m. That includes homework done under supervision, breaks, meal, and playtime.

 

Education

Following the Curriculum of Baden-Wuerttemberg (a German federal state) the educational philosophy of the Europa-Schule Luxor is based on the principles of the Montessori method. In 1894 the founder Maria Montessori was one of the first women becoming doctor of medicine. A fundamental idea of the Montessori method that respects inner guidance for self-directed learning is the request:

DIAP (German international final called Abitur) and
Thanaweya Amma (Egyptian final)
